From Beijing to the CrossFit Games podium, Tom Miazga is redefining what being at the top of his game looks like in and out of competition.

Adaptive Training Academy (ATA) trainers don’t just teach inclusive fitness — we live it. And no one embodies this mission more completely than Tom Miazga, Paralympian, multi-sport champion, and one of the most influential educators in the adaptive fitness community today.
As a Staff Trainer and Seminar Staff member, Tom travels the world representing ATA, delivering high-level education to trainers, gym owners, therapists, and adaptive athletes. His teaching blends deep technical knowledge, elite athletic experience, and an unwavering belief in human potential.
But make no mistake — Tom isn’t just a great teacher. He is also, statistically and competitively, the most dominant CrossFit Games athlete of all time, across both adaptive and non-adaptive divisions.

🥇 An Athlete with No Equals
Before stepping into the CrossFit arena, Tom Miazga already earned his way to becoming a world-class athlete.
A former U.S. Paralympian swimmer, Tom competed in the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games, racing in the 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle events. Over his swimming career, he earned:
🏊♂️ 8 American records
🌎 2 Pan American records
🥇13 International medals

Then, he found CrossFit. And that’s when the real winning streak began. Since entering functional fitness competition, Tom has racked up an unmatched record:
🏆 5x CrossFit Games Adaptive Division Champion (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025)
🏆 4x Wodapalooza Champion (2019, 2022, 2024, 2025)
🏆 3x WheelWOD Games Champion (2018, 2019, 2020)
From 2021 to 2024, Tom has not placed first in only three events — finishing second in each 👉 he doesn’t lose much, and when he does, he still comes in second place…that’s incredible and unmatched from any other CrossFit athlete. In an era of parity across the elite divisions, his level of consistency and dominance is unprecedented.
When asked how long he plans to compete, Miazga said:
“I’m very aware my competitive CrossFit career can’t last forever, but I’m always ready to chase new challenges. I’m looking forward to getting involved in HYROX, and have big hopes to complete an Ironman next year. I’ll always be chasing the next big challenge!”

📚 The Educator-Athlete
Tom’s impact isn’t limited to podiums. As a key part of ATA’s Seminar Staff, he teaches workshops and certifications that help coaches build truly inclusive environments — from grassroots affiliates to high-performance training centers.
Whether he’s breaking down seated snatch technique, coaching energy systems for seated athletes, or inspiring a room full of new adaptive trainers, Tom elevates every space he walks into.
“Competition shows whats possible. Education shows others how to get there. Being a competitor allows me to demonstrate firsthand what hard work can achieve, but being an educator allows me to create pathways so others can chase their own goals. Both roles matter – one inspires, the other eqiups.” Miazga
Tom Miazga is more than an amazing athlete and world champion. He’s a leader in movement, mindset, and education. He’s the ATA standard. And as far as we’re concerned, he’s just getting started!
